The 2007 season was a lot of fun. Remember Hagan park?

2008 is going to be great.

The series comes to a close

January 10th, 2008 admin

The 2007 Sacramento Cylcocross Series has come to a close. Congratulations to all of the series winners. You earned it. Really though we need to thank all of the racers for coming out each month to duke it out for what ever place you finished. Cross is is a hard sport, and it takes a lot to come out race after race and put it out there.

On that note it was fun to see so many people improve thorough the season. There were some hard fought battles in every category for places that did not include a podium at the end of the day. If you were in one of those battles, you need to give your self a pat on the back. Next year will be a new ball of wax as you might force yourself to upgrade to a new category.

Finally, here are the goodies that you have been looking for. Final results have been posted with the drop race and double points on the last day. Also, Steven Terra has been taking photos at all the races all year long and they are posted in the Picasa album.

Sutter’s Landing/Series Finale/Raffle and Party

December 28th, 2007 nep

Coming up on the fifth of January is the series finale at Sutter’s Landing Park immediately outside of downtown Sacramento. Last year this was an awesome course with some open fast sections, a bunch of slippery off-camber riding, a triple barrier on the bank of the river and windy single track through the back end. Before racing this course last year, it was hard to imagine what this venue could offer. Rich’s creativity and experience came through though and blew everyone away. This is going to be a fun race.

Aside from the fun of racing, this race will also be one of the last chances to race CX in Northern California until next season and will offer double points above regular scoring (winner takes 60 points minimum!). Check the results page, some of the categories are still open for contest. This race will NOT be dropped from your series points, ie: if you showed up to all five races before, you will drop your lowest score from those races, even if you don’t show up on the fifth.

After the race (starting at fourish) there will be an after party and raffle for anyone who raced any of the Sacramento CX races. The party will be at Old Soul Bakery in Downtown Sacramento. They (Old Soul) will be providing refreshments for purchase (soup, sandwiches, coffee, etc..) but if you like you can bring in your own food (including beer and wine). Old Soul is located at 1716 L street next to Crepeville. The entrance is actually in the alley on the back side of the building and there will be designated space inside the building for bikes so you don’t need to leave ‘em on the car or locked to a parking meter. Series overall prizes/jerseys will be awarded at the party and there will be a raffle with some great prizes such as: 2 Complete bikes from Fuji, a Cannondale cross frame, Mavic wheels, Timbuk2 bags, Adidas apparel, and a mess of other stuff. Remember all of those tickets you’ve been filling out at the races? Those all go into the hat for the raffle.

Bring your best game!  See you there.
